Short Term Accommodation (STA) Newcastle

A Real Break for You and Your Carer

Proudly supporting participants across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland.

Short Term Accommodation (STA) is more than just a break — it's essential support for both you and your primary carer. Based at our centre-based independent living home, our STA services provide a safe, comfortable environment focused on participant comfort. Offering individual care, or shared services. We carefully match participants based on compatibility, and our popular 1:2 shared support model makes quality respite more accessible. Whether it's a planned stay, a transition or time to recharge, our STA services support carer sustainability while helping participants maintain routines and build independence along the way.

Our Place!

NDIS Respite - Dynamic Ability Support

Nestled amidst the charming greenery of Hamilton, our Independent Living House offers a welcoming and supportive environment for participants to be cared for. This timeless cottage, built in the 1920s and recently revitalised, boasts all the comforts needed for a comfortable and supportive stay.

Inside, you'll find two cozy bedrooms, a welcoming living and kitchen area, and not one, not two, but three sun-soaked porches wrapping around the house. The spacious backyard provides opportunities for recreation, social connection, gardening and outdoor activities that support confidence and community participation.

We have intentionally embraced the calming principles of autistic design in our styling, with carefully chosen furniture, art, and colour palettes creating an inviting and serene atmosphere.

We want you to feel right at home, our team provides personalised support with your input on everything from developing routines, preparing home cooked meals, maintaining a comfortable home and supporting essential self-care. Participants are supported to use their skills to build on skills that promote greater independence in everyday life, but we're there supporting you every step of the way.

And let's talk location! We're just two blocks away from the vibrant heart of Hamilton, where Beaumont Street bustles with life. If you choose, your support worker can be your guide to exploring local pubs, restaurants, shops, and the lively nightlife scene. With easy access to public transport, participants can also build confidence accessing beaches, museums, markets and other community destinations, supporting greater independence and community participation.

Why DAS?

We know you.

Not just your NDIS plan — you. Your goals, your routines, your preferences and your world. We take the time to get it right from the start, so support feels familiar from day one.

We show up.
Every time.

No last-minute changes, no explaining yourself to someone new. Our participants work with consistent mentors they can rely on — because trust is built over time, not overnight.

We handle the hard stuff.

Coordinating support shouldn't feel like a second job. We carry the mental load so you and your family can focus on what matters most.

We communicate.

You'll always know what's happening. From your first enquiry to ongoing support, we keep you informed, involved and in control.

We’re here for life.

As your goals change, your support changes with them. We're not here for a quick fix — we're here for life.
