Shared Supports

Groceries, errands, getting out in your community — the everyday opportunities- but make it better. Better by sharing the support service with someone else and better for your funding because by sharing a support service your funding can go further. Shared supports let two or more participants split that time, and the cost.

Everyday tasks, shared costs.

What is shared support?

Shared support is when two (or more) NDIS participants use the same support worker, at the same time, for the same activity.

It's not a discount. It's not a workaround. It's a legitimate, NDIS-recognised way to make your funding go further on the tasks you already need help with — grocery shopping, banking, picking up prescriptions, running errands or engaging in your community activities (like a bowling league, men’s shed or DND campaign).

One worker, two+ people, one trip. The cost of that worker's time is split between participants instead of carried by one.

How Shared Support can work

There's no single model. Shared support works differently depending on who you're doing it with and what you’re doing.

  • With a family member - Sometimes it's as simple as a support worker taking two family members to do the groceries together — same trip, same task, shared time.

  • With a friend - If you've already got a friend on a similar plan with similar support needs or goals, you can share a worker for tasks you both need done.

  • With another participant - Don't have someone in mind? We can help match you with another participant with similar needs and goals, so you're not paying for support time alone.

As long as who you’re doing it with is a Participant of the NDIS, consenting and has the appropriate funding available we can work with you to get it organised.
