We did this because ‘1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health problem in any given year’ and we felt the effects covid-19 was having on our community. We are all likely know someone who is experiencing or has experienced mental health problems. A Certificate in Standard Mental Health First Aid provides practical skills to assess and respond to someone experiencing a mental health crisis. It benefits all of our community. We are proud to say, we have nearly 95% of staff currently trained and this number is growing! The Standard MHFA course equips our team with the skills to assist adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. We train new and existing staff monthly, over two days, with more than 12 hours of content. A Certificate in MHFA is valid for 3 years after which a refresher course can be completed to recertify.
